Nadi Dosha Exceptions

Understand tradition without panic

Nadi dosha — both partners in the same nadi — costs all 8 of the biggest koota. But the classical texts spend as much ink on its cancellations as on the dosha itself, and most matching tools skip them.

Meaning

The recognised cancellations: same Moon rasi but different nakshatras; same nakshatra but different rasis (pada-dependent); the Moon-sign lords being the same planet or classical friends; and the nakshatra-pada combinations the texts individually exempt. Regional traditions add more. Any of these converts a scored zero into a non-objection — which is why a bare "nadi dosha found" verdict without exception analysis is incomplete matching, not caution.

Core Interpretation

Practical sequence: confirm both janma nakshatras from birth details (not names), check the same-rasi and same-nakshatra exceptions first, then lord friendship. If the dosha survives all three, tradition treats it seriously — and that is the point where a full-chart reading with a practising astrologer earns its fee.

Check the exceptions first: same-rasi/different-star and lord-friendship cancellations clear a large share of flagged matches. If none applies, take the finding to a full-chart reading rather than a score screen.
